A business dashboard that updates itself

Answers · AI agents and custom builds

A business dashboard that updates itself pulls its numbers from the places they already live, such as email, calendar, calls and payments, so nobody retypes them into a spreadsheet. Westward builds custom dashboards like this: one screen that fills itself in. The first step is deciding which few questions you want it to answer each morning.

What it is

Most dashboards need someone to feed them. A person exports a report, pastes it in and fixes the formatting. A dashboard that updates itself connects to the sources directly and refreshes on its own.

It is not magic. Someone still has to decide what counts as a lead, a sale or a late invoice, because a dashboard can only count what it has been told to count.

Choose the questions first

Start with what you want to know, not the charts. These are examples. Which clients are waiting on a reply? What is due this week? Which invoices are unpaid? How many new leads came in?

Aim for a few questions you would actually check each morning. A screen of everything is a screen nobody reads. Write the definitions down too, so two people looking at the same number read it the same way.

Where the numbers come from

Each number should come from a real source and show which one. In Westward’s own SEO agent, every number in its report is measured and none are estimated. A good dashboard should hold itself to the same rule.

If a source is missing or a number is too small to mean anything, the dashboard should say so rather than guess.

Dashboard or agent?

A dashboard shows you things. An agent does something about them. Westward’s site updater reads how visitors use a website and makes small, tested changes at night. You might start with the dashboard and add an agent later for the parts you trust.

How to start

We begin with a free 30-minute call with the founder to find the questions and sources. A first build takes about a month, runs on your own accounts and is tested on your real data. If a dashboard will not help, we tell you before you spend anything.

Questions

Where does the data come from?

From the places it already lives, such as your email, calendar, calls and payments. We agree the sources with you first.

Who can see it?

Who can see your data and where it is stored are agreed in writing before we build, and it runs in accounts you control.

Can it change anything on its own?

A dashboard only shows. If you want something to act, a person approves anything important or public.

How is it priced?

In writing, before anything is built: a fixed price and an optional monthly plan. No hourly billing.
