AI for preschools and daycares: what to start with
Start with the parts of the day where staff are pulled away from children to answer the phone: tour requests, waitlist questions, “can she come in today?” and enrollment paperwork. AI can answer common questions from your own handbook and keep the waitlist moving. It should never touch care decisions, and a director approves anything that goes to parents.

Pick what you want AI to take off your plate
Protect the classroom first
A teacher with twelve toddlers cannot stop to take a call about hours. Yet parents call at drop-off, nap time and pickup, exactly when the room is busiest.
AI can answer the repeat questions from your handbook: hours, closures, what to bring, how to book a tour. Anything about a child’s health or safety goes straight to a person.
Then keep the waitlist warm
Families often contact three or four programs at once. The one that answers kindly and quickly tends to get the tour.
AI can track each inquiry, remind you who has not heard back, and draft the next message for the director to approve.
A note on privacy
Children’s names, photos and health details are sensitive. Check your state’s licensing rules and your own enrollment agreements before you automate anything that touches them, and keep that information out of public posts.
Picture this
Examples of what it can look like in a preschool or daycare. Illustrations, not clients.
A mother texts at 6 AM asking if you are open on a teacher in-service day. She gets the answer from your calendar before the director is in the building.
A tour request arrives on a Sunday night. By Monday morning there is a reply with times to choose from and the questions the director would ask.
A family on the waitlist has not been contacted in two months. A short, friendly check-in is drafted for the director.

Questions
Is it safe to use AI with children’s information?
Be careful. Keep health details and photos out of it unless your licensing rules and parent agreements clearly allow it, and ask us how access is set up.
Will parents know it is AI?
It should say so. A real person handles anything personal.
