AI automation agency vs AI consultant
Answers · Costs and hiring
An AI consultant mainly advises: finds what is worth automating and tells you how. An AI automation agency mainly builds: sets up the automations you ask for. The line is blurry, and many firms do both. Westward does both, with an audit first, then the build, then training for your team.
What a consultant usually does
A consultant studies how you work and advises. The result is often a plan or report: what to automate, in what order, and with what tools. That is useful if you have people who can carry it out. A consultant can also teach your team and help write the rules for using AI.
What an agency usually does
An automation agency builds. You describe the task, and they connect the tools and make it run. That is useful if you already know what you want. A good agency tests the automation on your real examples before it goes live.
Where each one can go wrong
Advice with nobody to build it can sit in a drawer. A build with no one asking whether it is the right job can automate the wrong thing. Many owners do not yet know what they want, so they need the looking first and the building after.
Neither problem comes from the label. It comes from the work not being connected to someone who understands your business.
Questions that matter more than the label
The word on the sign matters less than the answers. Ask to see what they have built. Ask what they do when something goes wrong. Ask whether you can read the written rules before anything runs. Some firms call themselves consultants and build. Some call themselves agencies and advise.
How to choose
If you know exactly what you want built, an agency may be enough. If you are not sure where to start, begin with someone who will look at your work first. Either way, ask the same questions: Is the price in writing? Who approves what the AI does? Whose accounts does it run on? Will they tell you if AI will not help?
Westward works the whole way through: a week 1 audit, a build in weeks 2 and 3, and setup and training in week 4. A person approves anything important or public, and the accounts stay yours.
Who can do this for you
Westward builds these and sets them up. Each page shows what it does and what it has done.
Questions
Which is cheaper?
It depends on the job and how each firm charges, so compare written quotes. Westward quotes a fixed price per build, with an optional monthly plan and no hourly billing.
Can I hire a consultant first and an agency later?
Yes. Just make sure the plan is written so another firm can build from it, and that you keep ownership of the accounts.
Do I need both?
Not always. If you already know the job and have someone to check it, a build may be enough. If you are not sure what to automate, start with the looking.
Which one is Westward?
Both, in one project. We audit, build, set up and train.
